Baseball That Was Worth The Wait

I’ve been away for a little while from the old GSB (that’s Goethe’s Sports Blog, of course). On a bit of a vacation and thought I’d post an update.

I’ve gotten a chance to see a couple of ballparks I hadn’t seen before in the last couple of days. On Wednesday, I was at Miller Park in Milwaukee to see the Rockies beat the Brewers by a couple of runs. Awesome ballpark, though I’m not sure why they chose to keep the roof shut on a day like that.

Yesterday, I waited through a three-hour rain delay only to be rewarded by one of the more exciting games I’ve ever been to. The Chicago White Sox were supposed to host the Detroit Tigers at 1 p.m. Thursday at U.S. Cellular Field, but the first pitch ended up being at around 4 p.m. It was a pretty cold day, but it was well worth all of the shivering. Curtis Granderson hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning for Detroit to tie the game, only for Scott Podsednik to drive in the winning run for Chicago in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off White Sox win.

It’s been a pretty good vacation so far.
